Overview
Buffalo Butte Ranch is a 6,000 acre privately owned and operated pheasant farm which has been in our family for five generations. Our Buffalo Butte Ranch South Dakota pheasant hunts, are in a variety of cover including milo, corn, sudan grass, cattails, tree belts and winding natural waterways and draws. Much of the land west of the Missouri River is marginal farmland and is not planted fence line to fence line. Because of the natural terrain and conservation practices such as CRP and shelter belts, the native pheasants flourish. With over 6,000 acres to hunt your corporate trip will have many lasting memories.
Hunting
South Central South Dakota has been labeled "The Pheasant Capitol of the World" and for good reason. No other region compares to the wild bird numbers found in this part of the State and South Dakota has a reputation for pheasant hunting second to none.
All of our hunts are exclusive hunts. We let you choose your own friends and who you want to hunt with. You are welcome to bring your own dogs, provided all shots are current.
There are cheaper hunts out there and there are more expensive hunts available. Considering all the amenities we offer and by taking advantage of our discounts we are a very reasonable priced hunt. We have one simple price for our packages that is all inclusive.

Lodging
The Main Lodge was built in 2003, over 4,000 square ft., and with a 32 X 40 great room on the upper level and a walk-out basement that boasts its own game room. The open front of the great room offers a fantastic view of the Dakota prairie. The upper level in the main lodge is where the home cooked meals will be prepared. The main lodge has a wraparound deck for you to sit and enjoy the beautiful South Dakota sunsets.
The Chalets were built in 2007 and sit adjacent to the main lodge. The Chalets are built with the husband/wife, father/son or daughter hunt in mind. It's also the perfect setting for that one on one business hunt.
The Vedral Lodge was also built in 2003 as a purpose built hunting lodge that sits atop the rolling plains overlooking a patchwork of fields and buttes in the distance. In 2013 we were fortunate enough to be able to take over operations with this lodge and offer lodging to our clients who wanted a more private and exclusive atmosphere to go along with their pheasant hunts. The Vedral Lodge has a fully stocked bar and game room along with a wraparound deck that hunters can enjoy the majestic sunrises and sunsets that only the great plains can offer. Shooting Range
Here at Buffalo Butte Ranch we are serious about our shooting! Our pheasants are quick and wild and the prairie dog towns give our shooters the ability to shoot some ranges outside their comfort zones. Because of this we like to give our clients the chance to hone in their skills at our well maintained and always expanding Gun Range. From scatter guns to highly tuned rifles, we have what it takes to perfect your aim and have fun doing so. The Gun Range gives our clients a chance to warm up before the hunt, both the accuracy and the safety practices of our shooters.
About Us
Our family business started out as a family farm by my great grandfather in the early 1900's. After some hard times and bad weather events it was repossessed by the bank. Thanks to hard work and pioneer spirit the farm was bought back by my great grandfather in 1920 and has stayed in the Springer name going on the 5th generation.
