Wildlife & Habitat Conservation Organizations

Calgary Pheasants Forever - Pheasants Forever Calgary is a non-profit local chapter of Pheasants Forever Canada Inc., dedicated to the protection and enhancement of pheasant and other wildlife populations in southern Alberta. It was formed in 1993 by six Albertans who were passionately concerned with the declining upland bird populations on the prairies. Now 800 members strong, we are one of southern Alberta?s leaders in upland wildlife habitat conservation and restoration.

Ducks Unlimited - Ducks Unlimited conserves, restores, and manages wetlands and associated habitats for North America's waterfowl. These habitats also benefit other wildlife and people.

Iowa Pheasants Forever - In the past 20 years, Iowa PF chapters established 183,756 acres of winter food & cover plots; 432,648 acres of nesting cover; and 12,759 winter cover plantings (9,216,040 trees) on private lands, and more. In all, Iowa?s PF chapters invested over $22.5 million on 75,346 habitat projects, equipment purchases, and conservation education that has positively influenced the lives of thousands of Iowa youth. All was accomplished through the unique mechanism of concerned local people providing the incentives for neighbors to create habitat.

MN Deer Hunters Association - Minnesota Deer Hunters Association was organized to achieve the best possible deer herd in Minnesota and to promote quality deer hunting. Founded in1980, the organization includes firearms, bow and camera hunters. In addition many members who are not active hunters or photographers join to support the activities of MDHA, whose members number nearly 20,000. MDHA is a tax-exempt, non-profit corporation.

MN Land Trust - The Minnesota Land Trust permanently protects the lands and waters that define our communities and enrich our quality of life. The Land Trust accomplishes this through establishing and monitoring permanent conservation easements. Conservation easements are legal agreements by which landowners voluntarily limit the development potential and use of their land. The land remains in existing ownership but the easement "runs with the title" insuring that the protections remain in place regardless of who may own the land in the future. The Land Trust is the only statewide organization that extensively uses conservation easements as a protection strategy. The Land Trust completed its first easement in 1993 encompassing 80 acres of land in Washington County. Since then, we have completed 271 projects protecting over 24,500 acres throughout the state.

MN Waterfowl Association - The Minnesota Waterfowl Association has a mission of protecting, restoring, enhancing and ensuring the proper management of Minnesota's important wetland areas and associated upland habitats through public education, legislative initiatives and on-going project efforts that benefit migratory waterfowl, other wetland wildlife and the well-being of the state's environment.

National Wild Turkey Federation - The NWTF is a half million member grassroots, nonprofit organization with members in 50 states, Canada and 11 other foreign countries. It supports scientific wildlife management on public, private and corporate lands as well as wild turkey hunting as a traditional North American sport.

Nebraska Pheasants Forever - Nebraska is the third largest PF state with 59 chapters and over 15,000 members. Since 1986, PF chapters have spent over $10.7 million in the state by working with local landowners and resource agencies to establish wildlife habitat, provide equipment to establish habitat, promote conservation education and develop new habitat programs in the state.

Ohio Pheasants Forever - Ohio is the sixth largest PF state with 35 chapters and over 5,500 members. Since 1989, PF chapters have spent over $3.5 million in the state on over 8,500 Projects. We work with local landowners and resource agencies to establish wildlife habitat, provide equipment to establish habitat, promote conservation education and develop new habitat programs in the state.

Ruffed Grouse Society - The Ruffed Grouse Society's role in conservation of wildlife habitat is to enhance the environment for the RUFFED GROUSE, AMERICAN WOODCOCK, and other forest wildlife that require or utilize thick, young forests. Since forests are dynamic and constantly changing and man has virtually eliminated the fires that shaped much of the forested land we know today, forests must be managed to obtain the products (wildlife, timber products, recreation, and water) that we all need and enjoy.
