Upland game bird hunting is a 3 day - 2 night package, arriving the first day of the hunt at 3:00 PM and departing the third day after the morning hunt. From mid-September through March, Texas bobwhite quail are found in great number on the ranch as are pheasant and chukar. Starting in December each year, hunters can also harvest Hungarian partridge. Traditional Walk-up Hunting with guides and dogs is the most popular style of hunting at Joshua Creek Ranch. Great care has been taken over the 20+ years of operation to develop and manage prime cover and food plots for attracting and holding gamebirds. Professional guides use both pointing and flushing dogs to ensure hunters of finding an abundance of birds and getting a hard flush when the birds fly.

Unless specifically requested, the hunt will include three (3) Pheasants and four (4) Chukars released per hunter. Minimum four (4) people per party. We require a 72 hr. notice. A guide and dog is included with each hunt. Hunts run from November through March.

We are located in the Texas panhandle in a little town by the name of Panhandle, about 30 miles northeast of Amarillo. Preserve Pheasant Hunt - Yes, this is Ring-neck country, but the last few years of drought have been tough on the birds. We still harvest wild birds, but we also hunt a mixture of released birds and birds that are raised in surrogators. Surrogator birds are released when they are 6-8wks old and are very wild by fall. The combination of these birds with habitat that is farmed for pheasants make our 1400 acres of preserve land outstanding. Our preserve hunts start Nov 1st.
